The sixth Annual Breckebeiner 60 km Ski-a-thon happened on March 29th. Over 200 skiers and guests enjoyed great ski conditions and a great party with music provided by Gene Dayton’s accordion, Helmut’s Alpine horn and Doc PJ’s sound system. The food was great–pasta salad provided by the Hearthstone, green salad from Peak Provisions, beer from the Breckenridge Brewery, along with burgers and dogs and the rest. The theme was south pacific with palm trees and leis everywhere. Justin took total km honors at 120. Many others skiied the 60 km solo or as part of a team. It was all great fun and turning into an annual event that can’t be missed by locals. A great way to end the ski season.
Many thanks to Gene and Therese Dayton for hosting and working so hard to bring this event about, to volunteer coordinator Jim Anderson, to staff Bob Bond, Melissa Kuwahara and Jaime Benthin for their hard work, to volunteers Don Sullivan, Chris Cares, Doug Sullivan, Aris Sophocles and Laura Metz. And thanks to all of you who came to ski, to party and to support the work of the BOEC!
Mark your calendars for next year, the last Saturday in March.
